Popular Palestinian lawmaker Khalida Jarrar, a mother, human rights activist, and member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, was arrested and jailed 20-months ago. 02.28.2019 Nature brings part of Israel’s separation wall down as Palestinians rejoice RT with video footage. Jerusalem got about ¾ of an inch of rain, which is a lot for them. Running water undermined the wall that segregates 30,000 Palestinians from occupied East Jerusalem. Video shows how multiple concrete slabs of wall, a total between 30 and 40 feet wide, just fell down like a row of dominos. Interesting to see how shabby the wall is built. Slabs are over 20 feet tall by about 6 feet wide. They’re stood up like a row of patio tiles with pretty much no support base. Dirt is piled about ten feet on one side with a steep hill above, (which would create huge hydrostatic pressure in with wet ground) and there’s a road following along the bottom of the wall on the other side. In the video, some kids are laughing at the wall’s collapse. [Haaretz says the wall collapsed in the same area last year and in 2013. It’s enough to make a person think about the maintenance costs of the proposed 2,000 mile wall between the U.S. and Mexico].

Another amazing article in the New Yorker penned by Entous who wrote the equally amazing New Yorker piece, Deception, Inc. two weeks ago (see February week 3, in the Palestine Headlines).

Israelis, operating covertly as private companies, funded by wealthy Jewish Americans who don’t want their connections with the operation exposed, are spying on, setting-up, and smearing Americans on American soil. They target people who support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement for Palestinian rights.
Employees are recruited from Israeli spy agency Mossad, and Israeli military intelligence. Article focuses on Psy-Group, whose tactics include spying on people online, physically following people, attacks on social media, setting up fake websites, social media pages, and emails to attack people, and other sleazy activities designed to intimidate and discourage activists. While the groups claim to be successful, these campaigns have led to more support for BDS when Americans find out what’s going on.
