Monday morning: Tony’s Taku Tuscany Restaurant
: At breakfast Tony set us out ricotta pancakes, fruit salad, cappuccino, and biscotti. We did the usual old-men check-in as to who could use a hand with projects, who’d be around and so on.
Breakfast over, Tony pulled out the big TV he calls ‘The Anti-Christ’ and it was show time.
“Something before we start,” Tim said. “A month after this episode you’re about to see, these same two professors did a whole show where they admitted they’d been entirely wrong about George Floyd’s death. How Chauvin, the policeman who took the fall, didn’t kill Floyd. About how Floyd was on meth, fentanyl, saying he couldn’t breathe as the cops walked up to him. How Chauvin was set-up in court…”
“We know all that, Tim.”
“Yes, Ira, we do. I’ll spare you the whole Floyd show, but here’s a few lines to prime the pump for today’s show. You’ll see why soon enough.
McWhorter on Chauvin, “I have written about him as a murderer many, many times, and then look, look at this, once again we’ve been lied to. And…the sad thing is Glenn, that nobody left of center is going to admit that any of this could be valid. Truth will not matter on this one…”
Loury: “What about fueling a false narrative? What about giving further credence to a way of thinking about yourself within your country that is untrue…? The cost here is inestimable.”
McWhorter: “It was a lie! It was a lie!…I am still trying to grapple with the meaning of this.”
Loury: “…This kind of thing, where people who control the megaphone decide that this is what we’re going to believe …You come away saying, ‘The lied to us.'”
McWhorter: “You know what it’s going to be, the way these things actually go, is that after 20 years or so, people admit the truth…we need to admit it now…”
“Damn, Tim,” Sonny said. “If that was priming the pump for whut’s commin’, we’re gonna need a trash pump with a six-inch discharge hose.”
Jake nodded, “So far, Tim, these two are victims because they swallow lies hook, line, and sinker. Then they’re victims because they promote the lies. Then they’re victims because people who still believe the lies they promoted in the first place don’t trust what they’re saying now.”
Tim shrugged as he passed a notebook and pencil to each of us. “How about you guys write down what grabs you, shout it out. Note the time in the show.”
“Well I’m excited.” Roy rolled his eyes. “Anything else, we should know before we start, Tim?”
“This show about Gaza was put up on the first week of November, 2023.” Tim said. “When history repeats itself and these guys go into their, ‘Gasp! We were lied to!’ song and dance number about Gaza, we should keep in mind what was already known by the first week of November.”
Minute 1: Tim cued the video. ‘The Moral Challenges of the Gaza War’
Right out of the blocks Gene raised his hand at the opening title.
“Well that was quick Gene, they haven’t even said anything yet.”
“Oh yes they have.” Gene said. “They’ve introduced the essential aspect of the lie by calling it a ‘war’. In the propaganda world, war justifies the extremest levels of brutality. A war, by definition, is an armed, hostile conflict between states or nations. Israel is a state. Hamas is not. That’s whole point of Hamas going over the wall. Palestine should be a state but it’s not because of Israel. I’d accept the puppeteers calling it a war against Palestine but they won’t. Zionists don’t want to admit Palestinians exist. Golda Meir, Moshe Dyan, John Hagee and a lot of others even said Palestinians didn’t exist.”
“Duly noted. Moving on.”
We listened to JM note his recent article where he, “makes the basic point that people who are calling themselves anti-colonialist (and we can talk about the appropriateness of that word)…
Al raised his hand, “Is he saying ‘colonialist’ isn’t appropriate? Because European and Russian Jews moving to Palestine have called themselves ‘colonists’ since the 1880’s” when the mass migrations started.”
Tim shrugged, “He’s implying it, I suppose. But he doesn’t back it up. Instead he diverts to what he calls hyper-educated people, including PhD’s and professors,“…cheering Hamas on thinking that to make an omelette you have to break some eggs, roughly, even though we’re talking about, four…teen…hundred…people brutally murdered.”
“Well call me a hyper-educated PhD.” Sonny said. “I know I could have finished fourth grade in Lubbock ‘cept I quit to go be a professor in the Ivy League.”
“And look at you today, Sonny. You’ve come far.”
‘four…teen…hundred people brutally murdered’. Ira added, with JM’s pear-shaped inflection. “You said this Loury’s an economics professor. He must know his fractions then. Does he jump in and say at least two hundred of them were Palestinian fighters, or how many of the Israelis were legitimate military targets, or how many Israelis the Israeli army itself killed October 7th–deliberately? If he doesn’t, why not? That was all coming out in media in other parts of the world by mid-October.”
“Why Mr. Loury jumps, or doesn’t, is a mystery, Professor Lane. How about you give us a math lesson.”
“Happy to.” Ira said. “In public relations the number people hear first and most often is what they hold on to. That’s why oil spill reports always start out with a few gallons then go up as reality becomes unhideable. For October 7, we hear 1,400 dead Israelis from Netanyahu’s parrots: Biden, Congress, pretty much every talking head on T.V., these professors… That’ll be our 100% . Of those dead, Israeli social security records revealed that 1,139 were Israelis. That’s 81.4% of 1,400. Of those, at least 373 were Israeli occupation troops, police, security etc. Those 373 were legitimate targets, as I said. That leaves 766 which is 54.7% of 1,400. Of those; 693 were Israelis, the rest foreigners, mostly ‘guest workers’ from Asia. The 766 gets interesting when we factor in that the Israeli military killed many if not most of them. That’s because decades ago Palestinians snuck across Israel’s containment barrier, grabbed an Israeli soldier out of a tank and took him hostage. Hamas’ terms for returning him were that Israel had to release hundreds of Palestinian hostages that Israel had kidnapped from their homes and was holding indefinately in prison, most of them without trial. The Zionists capitulated because of Israeli public opinion but they were humiliated to the marrow. This humiliation led directly to “The Hannibal Directive.”
“What’s that, Ira?”
“That’s an insult to the African general, Hannibal. Arguably the greatest general in history. He killed himself rather than being taken prisoner by the Romans. In wacky Israel, the Hannibal Directive is that the Jewish state kills its own people rather than let them be taken prisoner by Palestinians. They’ve invoked it a number of times over the years including blowing up whole Palestinian civilian neighborhoods in Gaza where they thought Hamas might be hiding a captured soldier. Killing everybody. Men, women, children, and the Israeli soldier if he’s there.”
“Who says Israel used this ‘Hannibal Directive’ on Ocotober 7th?”
“Israeli hostages, tank commanders, helicopter pilots, military officers… An Israeli woman told the press she was in a house full of hostages captured by Hamas fighters. Hamas treated the Israelis kindly, told them they were going to Gaza as hostages. That woman got out just before an Israeli tank opened fire and blew up the place killing everyone in it. Not to mention American analysts and weapons experts who showed houses collapsed by tank rounds and cars incinerated by hell-fire missiles…It was bedlam. They blew up their own police station in Sderot with tank rounds–with Israeli hostages inside. Hamas overran the Erez Crossing military base killing, wounding, and kidnapping Israeli troops. The base commander was a Brigadier General.”
“Did he kill himself like Hannibal?”
“No, Tony. He scuttled into a tunnel leading underground into Israel’s ‘Gaza Division Subterranean War Room’ with a few male and female soldiers, and called in an airstrike on his own troops who were fighting Hamas above his head. One Israeli Colonel called October 7, a “mass Hannibal”. Helicopter pilots were flying around blowing up cars headed for Gaza knowing that they had Israeli hostgages in them. Had to know. Helicoptors firing 30 mm rounds into that rave. What does a 30 mm round do to a human body, Sonny?”
“Depends whut kind of round.” Sonny said. “You got your armor piercing incendiary rounds, I see all them burned up cars at the rave and think ‘merican hellfire missiles and API’s probably whut done that. Then you got your HE rounds, that’s high explosives that vaporize people. If they’s air burst rounds, anti-personnel whut go off above ground and spray fragmentation everywhere, you can take down half a company with one of those.”
“What if a pilot fired dozens into a crowd?”
Sonny made a face. “Then you got a meat salad, Ira. Hold the arugula.”
